(Please read in full) My roommate and I had been tenants for about three years at Spicewood and Iron Horse and even recommended it to my brother and his roommate and they moved in. We always paid our rent on time and never complained about things (super old A/C unit that went out almost every month that made our GA power bill $150 to $200 a month, leak that ruined some of my clothes, huge dog that weighed way over the limit above us that kept me up at night) because the customer service was so amazing, until the end. I would happily have written a great review if it had not been for Maria the Property Manager. She made our move-out experience terrible! Upon move-out, we hired a cleaning service to clean our apartment and we let the leasing office know (turning the keys in) that we had not had a chance to get the carpet cleaned and are okay with any charges from that. After moving out, we received an invoice with our water bill (expected), a bill for our carpet (also expected) and to our surprise a cleaning fee for the actual apartment. You can imagine our surprise since we paid to get our apartment professionally cleaned. I called the Leasing Office in total of four times and left messages for Maria each time to please call us back to get this all handled to no avail! Finally, I called again and Maria was there. I talked to her and she specifically told me that if we could get a document from the cleaning company stating what they cleaned, their signature, and contact info she would reverse the charge. While we currently live on the west coast and this was an extreme inconvenience I obliged and got my father to hand deliver the document and we paid the remainder of the charges. Later we got another bill for the cleaning fee. I called again, left a voicemail…no call back and I called again and she stated she had pictures. I requested that she email them to me and never did. Finally fast forward a couple months, I got a phone call from a collections agency demanding we pay the balance. By this time I’d had it, I called corporate and spoke to a WONDERFUL lady named Robin. She checked into it, called me back when she said she would and once I provided the invoice and she did some research, my unwarranted charges were reversed. She was an absolute pleasure! I, again, had nothing but good things to say about the leasing agents and the overall community. I’ve heard that Maria is no longer there. So with her out of the equation, I would give Spicewood 5 STARS. She was the only one who could make decisions but she was never there, manipulative, very rude, never followed through, and doesn’t answer the phone/doesn’t return voicemails. I felt like the leasing staff and maintenance men were family. Thank you and a special thanks to Robin. You are amazing.
